eternal sunshine.

today has been a rather up and down day. in fact, the whole week has been.
i had school this morning which was utterly pointless, but on the plus side it was the last time i will ever have to wear that hideous polyester jumper. rejoicing time!
the rest of the week has been pretty good, i spent most of the time watching glastonbury. which i have to say was bloody amazing, i so wish i could've been there! the best act for me was most definitely bruce springsteen - i actually stayed up to watch his entire performance & he was so good! seriously, that man can play some serious tunage. and it does help that he's pretty damn hot (yes, even for a 59 year old).

anyway, after school i went home & watched one tree hill & gilmore girls (which i must say i am rather addicted to). finally, FINALLY, i can use the phrase i saw on scrubs that i have been waiting to use for absolutely aaaages: i am so mad at lorelai i can't even talk right now.
if you watch either (or both) programmes you will understand. if not, tough luck.

i also listened to some of my dad's records (jimi hendrix, david bowie & elvis costello) & played a bit of guitar. i've started learning my pieces for grade 1 but it's a bit tedious at the mo, because a) i am crap and b) it's a tad tiring playing the same things over and over again. my theory book came in the post today though so that's something.

while watching hollyoaks, i made a necklace (as is my general thing to do when bored). i found a picture in the tv guide the other day (yes i know, i am so sophisticated) of a still from my favourite film of all time: eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. if you haven't seen this film you won't get the "meet me in montauk" reference. and the only thing i say to that is watch the film! believe me it is worth is, michel gondry is a really amazing director & the story is just beautiful.

sir paul.

it is the 67th birthday of sir james paul mccartney & the 16th birthday of a friend of mine today, so i felt that was worthy of a blog entry.
also, i am veryyyyy excited!
i'm off to liverpool at some point in the summer to go on a beatles experience.
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!
mother & i are possibly going on beatles day (10th july), which is a charity event in liverpool where they basically do loads of beatley type things for charity. you can even buy mop top wigs.
i think we're going to stay in the hard day's night hotel and we're going on one of the beatles tours - which are actually called magical mystery tours!
aaahh i really cannot wait :)

above us only sky.

i made some jewellery today.
it's not really unusual for me to do this, i mean, it is kind of hopefully going to be my future career, but i have had hardly any spare time lately because of my ridiculous GCSEs that are going on at the moment.
anyways, today i made 2 pairs of earrings, a ring, a badge & a necklace.
the earrings were really just rearranging other earrings, & the ring & badge were repair jobs, but i really love the necklace i made.

there's a bit of a story behind it actually.

the jigsaw piece is from an art exhibition i went to see at the baltic flour mill by yoko ono (between the sky and my head). i've never been too big a fan of conceptual art, but i did really love that exhibition. yoko ono really is a good artist, she can draw as well as do installations. besides, art is about more than just drawing anyway.

it just reminded me of the lyrics to imagine (which i really think is a beautiful song, even with its strongly communist connotations) & has really inspired me for a whole jewellery range kind of thing about, well, sky. i guess that sounds a bit stupid, but inspiration is inspiration!

imagine there's no heaven,

it's easy if you try.

no hell below us,

above us only sky.

beatlemania.

saw this on tv today and screamed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpBDOolcs9g
aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!
i am quite excited for this, even though i don't have an xbox.
john, paul, george & ringo immortalised (more than they are already, if that's at all possible) in computer game form.
the graphics look pretty awesome too, but i bet the singings hard. especially with the three-part harmonies those guys were so fond of.
eeek! i seriously cannot wait for this to come out.

vintage reclaimed skirt.

mother made me a lovely skirt t'other day.
i bought the skirt back in march at a vintage fair for the not-very-princely sum of £4 & at the weekend we altered it.
we put a purple waistband on, changed the buttons & made it a tad shorter.
i really reaaally love it :)
